Hi all
New Orac owner here in a quest for knowledge.
After browsing the various forums and threads on the subject of retro fitting the Orac I seem to be
going round in circles.
The Orac I have is a 1985 model and is as new as it came from British Aerospace some years ago
and has been unused since then.
My question is what route is best to go,I have downloaded NCnet lite as I understand this software
can communicate through the rs232 port But cannot find out which control board parameters to follow from the NCnethttps://www.cadem.com/ncnet-dncdetails.htm site.
From what I can see the board is a Syntel MP09 ? is this the control board ?
Also I cannot seem to find the cable schematic.
any help would be appreciated.
Chris

Re: Denford Orac
Hi Chris
I have an Orac and am using DOS program from the forum, title of file is "Old Machine Software" and is a Zip file.
All works OK, but a bit laborious to enter large programs.
Allows saving to and reloading from disc.
Load program to lathe and/or lathe to program.
Has program simulation feature.

Hi Emgee
Thanks for that looks a bit old school to me I think i will go down the retrofit route.
I guess it will be worth it eventually.
Cheers

Hi Chris
Old school for an old machine but it would get you cutting instead of going round in circles !!!!
Good luck with your conversion, interested to know what equipment you end up using, perhaps you will post some detail when completed ?
