Orac Problems please help.

Post by ifor1966 » Fri 08 Feb , 2008 12:04 pm

We have two Orac machines 1984 and 1986 ish.
We use them to gringd mostly glass discs so we have a toolpost grinder with diamond wheels.

One machine was blowing a fuse but we suspect that it was due to the spindle speed being too slow for the motors fan to cool so we have fitted an idependent fan.

However we are unsure if this problem is fixed as anothe problem has surfaced.

In manual moving wheel in and out and side ways sometimes does not work but the ready on the screen changes as if it is working this means we can not get a start position.

If it does work if we touch the button twice it reverses the direction.

Think its brain is minced.

Any suggestions please.

Our intention is to have up t 6 of these machines as when working they do a fine job.

Thanks

Sandy Dow

Hardware/Software: Go to User Control Panel > Profile
Enter as much information about your CNC hardware and software as you can - it makes it easier for everyone to know what you're talking about then.

Its definately worth having a really good look for signs of aging in the electronic components.eg:

Search everywhere for dry joints; pin or track corrosion; relay / push button contacts are clean (replace them if you're in doubt anyway); remove socketed IC's, clean and put back etc etc...
