Software/hardware

Post by Deck36 » Sun 02 Feb , 2025 12:02 pm

Just bought a Novaturn which is practically brand new, but the pc used to run it is missing.

I have some questions:

Do I actually need VR Turn to run the machine? (I believe this to be true)

Anyone have an idea of what a license file costs from Denford?

If I use a modern laptop do I put a UC100 to go from parallel port to usb? I have a Novamill running Mach3 on a new laptop using a UC100, ut don't know if the same thing would work for the Novaturn

Many many thanks for helping out

You can use a standard USB to RS 232 adapter connected to the original serial lead to connect to the machine.

If you email through to Technical@denford.co.uk we can give you a price for the licence for VR CNC Turning.

I now have the PC that was connected to the lathe and it has the software and license, which is a massive relief!

I'd like to use a modern laptop if possible, so:

is the software upgradable? (I think it was 2000-2001 version) or likely to run under Windows 10 somehow?
If I just cloned the HDD into a laptop will a RS232-USB adapter still work?

Obviously I'm happy to run it all as is with the old clunky pc, but I am short on space so a laptop would be ideal.

Really appreciate the help

Thanks again

Hi The software you have will be registered to the origional owner and thier name will be displayed when you start up the software.
You will still need to purchase legal software to be able to run the machine and access our technical support.
