Hi there everyone, My first post here as yesterday i acquired my Novamill.

I have limited experience in using these machines so any help will be greatly appreciated!!!!

So....

1. First on the list as it's been untouched for at least two years is to strip and clean, I know this is fairly straight forward but anything to look out for, anything i may regret??

2. SOFTWARE.
I have VR Milling 2.31 with the dongle thing for the license, is it possible to upgrade to the latest software? also i have no RS232 port on my computer, so what's the best way of connecting to the computer? I have seen usb convertors on ebay but not sure if that would work.......

Controller Serial: 70317B, Made in March 1997
Machine serial(this is what i have seen in the manual not actual on the machine): 60110B, Made in 1996

Really looking forward to hearing your advice to i can start making chips!!!!

Thanks again

Nic

1. I suppose it depends how far you want to strip it down - the more you take off the more trouble you may get putting it back together.
2. You can get the latest version of VR Milling v2 from here but would have to pay to upgrade to version 5 milling.
USB converters don't normally work that well:

Here is the original machine inspection sheet and .OPT file for the DOS sw:

don't bother stripping, i've had many novamills that have been sat in a room for years and never used. Download the manual and oil up the slides and oil points, and it'll be good to go.
