Have customer with a NovaMill (standard – Feb 2003) with a Nextmove ES (type 7) that cannot communicate properly. When he clicks on the connect to machine – control panel opens and then gives the error “Invalid Platform Code”. We have checked machine parameters for the type 7 and type 9 issue because he was getting the 005c1c5b access violation which no longer happens with the type 7.
Machine Info
MINT Version
Controller NextMove ES (type 7) Ver: 5034

CPLD: V 8
System Info

OS Info : Service Pack 2

"Invalid platform code" means that the compiled mint file (*.mex) which is downloaded to the controller is the wrong one - it has been compiled for different firmware or control platforms.
If you have control type 7 then this will download
NovaMill.mex
If you have control type 9 (latest firmware) then it will download
NovaMill.52xx.mex
I don't know how this problem has come about, but I suggest updating to the latest version of V5 milling and updating the firmware on the card with EasyUpgrader.
This must be one of the very first NextMove cards and could be the cause of your problems - get the latest
EasyUpgrader and see what that can do to update it.
get it from here

We have just seen this problem again on the Novamill.
The firmware was out of date and this caused the problem.
To fix, you must install the latest EasyUpgrader (currently on the v5.17 CD)
Install v5.17 VR Milling (or above)
Run easyupgrader and update to latest firmware
Make sure the control type is set to 9 in machine parameters
The above procedure was carried out and the machine now connects OK
