Novamill Guard Open
The “Guard Open” error maybe caused by a faulty Guard Switch or the Actuator is slightly misaligned. The Guard Switch (magnetic switch) is mounted on the right side of the machine cabinet, on the back. The Actuator (magnet) is mounted on the right side of the guard at the back edge. Check the alignment of the 2 pieces when the guard is closed, they much be very close (within an 1/8”) to work properly.
With the machine turned off and unplugged from the wall power outlet. You can check the switch to make sure the contacts are working with a volt/ohm meter. The switch is wired into the main control card on connector TB 9, pins 2 & 3. The switch is NO (normally open), when the Actuator is close up the contacts “close” making a circuit. Disconnect the wires from the connector block (mark which wire goes to each pin) and connect the leads to your volt/ohm meter, use “continuity” or ohms to check the switch. With the Guard Open, actuator away from the switch, the contacts will be open – no circuit. With the Guard Closed, actuator next to the face of the switch, the contacts will close – circuit. You can also try using a small magnet to activate the switch for testing. If the switch checks out OK, you will need to adjust the actuator closer to the switch when the Guard is closed. If the switch is faulty, a new switch will need to be installed.
