x axis issues

Hi Ive recently started work in a high School and have been tasked with getting our microrouter up an running.
Its been used intermitently over the last few years.
Finally got my head round it all and its starting to produce some great peices of work, unless...

at random intervals (tried various different projects) its appears to 'jump' on the x axis, usually about 15mm, further up the work piece.

could this be as simple as the drive belt being worn? if so how easy is it to remove/replace?

cheers

I would put money on it being the stepper motor stalling.
Clean off all the X slides and screws then lubricate it fully with swanslip - make sure you get in into the nut by running it up and down, then re-spraying.

You may be best removing & cleaning both nuts. It is easier to do one at a time which makes it easier to realign.
