I get an inconsistency in results when cutting hard / soft materials with the same program but with different Speeds and Feeds, sometimes on the harder material (MDF) the cutter seems to plunge deeper into the material

1. If the tool is not fully tightened in the collet, then when cutting hard materials like MDF, sometimes the tool can tend to screw itself out of the collet due to the rotation and the flute angles. This in essence lengthens the tool and hence it will seem to cut deeper

2. Make sure the Z and lead screw and slides are well lubicated with silicon spray, if the Z axis stepper motor sees too much resistance when doing a upward move then it could just begin to "STALL" i.e. not moving up the correct height and hence when it comes down it will cut deeper than is required

3. Try cutting the the soft material with the hard material program and see if the results are the same

4. In 1 and 2 above, after the problem has occurred, jog all the axes to roughly their offset positions and check to see if the display read out for each axis is 0
