Microrouter Pro, Z axis going down when homing

were having sporadic problems when trying to home Z...the head wants to go down untill it hits the bottom....sometimes switching the machine off then back on will cure the problem
any thoughts

Make sure there is no debris / dirt behind that acuator arm of the datum switch. If there is give it a good clean and try homing again

In that case it sounds like a broken wire. In the electrical panel you will see a PCB with a 7 segment display on it, on the bottom Right Hand Side of the PCB that the 7 segment display PCB is plugged into you will see a Orange (Or Black on later models) socket with 4 wires on it. These wires are in pairs (Adjacent to each other) and go to the windings of the Z axis stepper motor. Pull the socket out of the PCB and with and Electrical meter set on continuity, put one probe on each of the pair of wires and check for continuity, move the wiring about and see if you get an open circuit, repeat on the other pair of wires

have changed the microswitch and this has cured the problem
