Customer states machine is running slow and cut is very poor
Tech Answer:
There are several things to look at and check to see why your machine is slow.
- Make sure the “Feedrate” & “Spindle” override knobs on the front of the machine are turned fully to the right (clockwise).
- Check the “feedrates” in machine capabilities. You’ll have to disconnect from the machine and click on Setup, click on setup machine parameters, type in the password denny, click on feed. Max feed rate for X, Y, & Z should be 500, max contour feed 300, and jog rapid feed 400 (these are in metric).
- After connecting and homing the machine, go to the “Jog” screen and slide the Jog and Spindle sliders all the way up. Use your mouse and left click and hold the slider bar and move up with the mouse on each one. The numbers in the blue boxes will increase, up to16 (in inches) or 400 (in metric) for jog and up to 2800 for the spindle.
- In MillCam Designer check to see what material is selected. On the screen that the billet size is entered, off to the right is material type, click on the arrow and select the material you are using. These have preset feeds and speeds. If you already have a .mcd file, open the file, then go to Create G code and select Set G code parameters to select the material or change the feed and speed rates manually before you got to Make file to create the .fnc file.
- If you are using the engraving cutter to cut an acrylic billet, go into MillCam Designer and change the depth. Select the first line “red” and type in .030 for start of line & end of line depth. Going too deep will cause the cutter to melt it’s way through the material.
