Hi all,

I need some help. I recently acquired an older micromill [Smartstep Mint 3.28 V1.6h/S-JD5] and I have been successful up to this point. So far I have installed the software and connected to the machine. My problem lies when I go to home the machine I get a Error - Controller Communications.

I am currently running the micromill FANUCSMD from Windows XP dos prompt, which opens the software but I get this error. If I hit escape when I receive the error and quickly try to home one of the axis, the mill will move for a few seconds until the error comes up again. I Have also tried to run the software from the dosbox with no luck, it just hangs at initializing mint 3.28

Am I getting this software error due to running FANUCSMD on XP? If so how can I get the dosbox emulator to work?

For those who stumble upon this in the future, this issue was fixed by downgrading the operating system to dos 7.1. I was unable to get the program to run in a dos emulator.
