Okay, can someone tell me if anything appears wrong with the board? I'm using an rs232 connection. connecting to my computers printer port (25 pin). Neither Mach3 or VR turning V1.15 get a response. Vr Turning keeps saying can't find lathe, or can't connect to lathe. Is there something I did wrong during software installation? All I did was install the software, made a microturn 2000NS profile and started the program. I did nothing else, and I'm wondering is there something else I should have done. Also what does the dash mean on the 7 segment display mean, does that mean everything is operational?

What cable are you using to connect? You should be using a pin to pin cable direct to the com port on the computer. As far as I know Mac will not connect directly to the Baldor control card.

Yes. I'm just using male to male 25 pin serial port. Also, I'm not using the baldor control card. I'm just using the printer port that is attached to my mobo.

I don't understand! The NextStep needs connecting to the Com port on the computer. It will not connect via the printer port if it's as shown in the original picture.

Yes. The next step card has an output port as a 9 pin connector. The connector goes down to the side of the lathe and attatches to the 25 pin connector (As shown here)

You need to connect it to the serial port then & not the printer port.

oh, so I would need to get a 25 pin to 9 pin converter?
So that I could connect it to the serial port?

damnit. Okay thanks, and after I connect the two it should sense the lathe? Once I plug the cable into the serial port that is.
