Micro Mill Motor Speed

Out Micromill 2000 has a spindle motor in it marked Sherline.
The spindle M03/M05 works under program control, however the S command does nothing, nor does the spindle speed over-ride on the front of the machine.
Is this spindle motor a fixed speed?
If so, what is the rpm if using the top set of pullies...2,800?
Was the orginal motor that came on this machine capable of varialbe speed?
Is there anyway to make this Sherline motor a programmable speed motor?

Yes it should be - post photos of the machine electrical cabinet and the current motor - it sounds like someone has made the motor run directly from the mains - maybe because the drive had stopped working ?

Ok, here are some photos
I did verify that the spindle over ride knob does move the slider on the computer. It doesn't change the spindle speed, but the potentiometer part of it is working.
When using a M03 with any S command, I get what I think is full RPM Spindle reguardless of where the knob is set.

It sounds like it has been modified at some point.
It may be that the spindle analogue may faulty. The easiest way to check is to measure accross terminals 1 & 2 1672on TB7. It should read 0 to 10 volts DC depending on the speed requested.
Attached is a link to the electrical drawing.

Based on what you said and the wiring diagram, I found that the wires were hooked to 1 and 3 rather than 1 and 2. Put them on the right terminals and it now works correctly. Thanks for your help
