Hello, this is the machine that I bought

https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... N.m313.lVI
I have a series of 3.5" hard disks that came with it - Mill CAM Designer 2.13 and VR CNC milling for windows on CD it has a PN # 100108 on it.

The model number on the mill is 970-506 E49849 the main motor for the mill. Other then that I do not see any real number on it. It uses a registration disk. I installed the latest version of the VR Milling Software from your site. I will uninstall it and re-install the software that I got with it, after that though I would like to know how to install the updated version.

There is no indication on the case of any serial number, when I used just the registration disk to try to validate the new downloaded software the name of a school came up under organization. I will however, write it down when I re-install the software.

VR CNC Milling is the control software for your machine. It appears from the pictures that the previous owner’s registration is on a black floppy disk rather than a serial dongle, but hard to tell from the pictures. Not sure what software you downloaded from our website. If you downloaded the VR CNC Milling v.5** it is a different level of software and will need to be purchased then you will receive the software and registration. The VR CNC Milling v.5* may not be compatible with your machine’s control card. Please follow this link to determine what type of control card you have in your machine https://www.denfordata.com/projectimages ... _guide.pdf

If you have a Denstep, you can upgrade to VR CNC Milling v.5** at a reasonable price. Please contact sales@denford.com for a proper quote.

If you downloaded VR CNC Milling v.2.31, then you would need to use the black floppy registration disk for VR CNC Milling that you may have received from the previous owner. It you do not have this disk or it has gone corrupt, you may contact sales@denford.com for a quote on a legitimate replacement software. Either way, it would be helpful to know what type of control card you have in your machine as this will be required for trouble shooting.

The MillCAM Designer is a basic design software which may also use a black floppy for registration instead of an actual serial dongle, depending on the year it was purchased. Again, hard to tell from your pictures.

I am going to contact the guy that I bought this off of and see if he has the security dongle as the software that he sold me with it does not work without it.

It is from Rayen High School. I can see that someone took off a sticker on the right top side of the cabinet I am sure that that was probably the serial number.

If you could follow the link I suggested above and determine the type of control card you have, that would be very beneficial to know and we can better answer your questions.

With all the floppies, etc. you could have DOS software and external serial dongle for registration.

Here is a link where you can download FREE DOS control software (with registration unlocking code) but be aware DOS software will not work on anything above Windows 98. Denford no longer sells or supports DOS. https://www.denford.ltd.uk/index.php?opt ... &Itemid=51

You can purchase a control software upgrade for DOS to VR CNC Milling v. 2.31 (comes with an EPROM for your control card). It is the same price as the software upgrades you received from Denford sales today.

I have the Mill CAM 2.13 registration disk so I can use that, but I can
not use the VR CNC Milling for Windows as it requires the Dongle.

Is the control card hard to install. And will I have to upgrade the
transformer to use it?

Control card not difficult to install if that is all you are replacing. You may need about 250-300 VA transformer for the new control cards, not sure what transformer you currently have in your machine. This will take some rewiring.
