MicroMill 2000

We have a MicroMill 2000 NS that was working last year and has stopped working this year. When we turn on the Mill you can hear the fan, the internal light comes on, the Main Power button is lit and nothing else happens. I remember last year the mill set itself and we also had to turn the key to light the button. Needless to say it doesn't communicate with the computer either.

I haven't used one for ages, but don't you have to turn the key to switch the main power on ?
You either press buttons or turn keys or both to get the main power on. Then, it should talk to the computer if you have VR Milling setup correctly
If not, then take a look inside the cabinet and look for a red or green led display (8) lighting up

There is a green light on the LCD, but it just a dot. Anything else that I can check on?

What version of VR milling do you have?
Is it a USB connection to the machine?
Download the latest easy upgrader software from our download site and run this.
This will let you check the firmware and update as required.
If it says no controller found then the board is at fault. It should communicate and check the firmware. If it does follow the prompts and update if required.
Once done then the VR should communicate OK.

I am using USB with Version 2.31.3.951. When I plug in the usb it is found by XP, but the upgrader is unable to find a machine. How do I go about getting a replacement controller?

Force Firmware

There is one thing to try before you need a new controller.
It could be the firmware on the card has become corrupt.
This should only be done when instructed to do so by the factory.
Open the easy upgrader software.
From the opening window move your mouse over the top of the red and green banner at the top of the screen shown in screen 1 and double click.
You will now get a new window open that allows you to try and force a firmware update.
If the firmware updates successfully then the machine should now connect correctly and all is OK.
If it is still unable to communicate then you will require a replacement card.
Make the changes to upgrade by USB and identify the card as shown in screen 2 then click on the force firmware
