Hi
I have a Easiturn 3 PNC3, been using it weekly with no major problems.
Last night the Auto toolchanger when selecting tool 7 decided to just continue to rotate until I reset the control, but works fine on the other tool positions.
Any Ideas before I start taking the changer apart?

sounds like one of the position sensors , run the diagnostics test and as u rotate it by hand , you should see each switch positon change

How do I go about testing the sensors, the manual is a bit vague?

going by memory here for the pnc3 board ,
switch on , before pressing the zero datum as usual , press the T key (test)
this gives a display on the screen look at the toolchanger , shown as a 0 if the switch is open and a 1 when closed

All my diagnostics screen shows is whats below,
But with no mention of 'toolchanger'
inputs: 01001111
printer: 10
DIL swictches :110011
Cassette: 0011
M/C switches: 1111
Datums: 1100
Step Direction: 11000000
Drive Fault: 1100
Is it common that the sensors which look at the timing disc thingy, malfunction?

check around the switches for swarf etc , it could be that simple , or a broken wire

On mine, the infra red LED's on the slotted sensors had all blown! Fortunately, the part numbers for replacements (from RS) are printed on the sensors.
Even LED's have a finite life - and I guess on mine they were past it. I imagine the same is true on yours.

Thanks for everybodies input, I have got the tool changer working again!
For future reference for anyone, the problem ended up being corrosion on the circuit board, I gave it a clean up and seems to work fine.
Also if anyone wants the timing position of the timing disc, I can forward a pic and details.
