Do M06 index the 8 position tool changer on the Easiturn3

Hi first of all thanks to the administers for letting me join the forum and hopefully I will be able to give some input back in the fields I’m strong in.
I have just bought an Easiturn lathe but can’t seem to get the tool changer to index automatically, it works on the manual button, but should it work on a M06 code all it seems to be doing is changing the tool offset number. Is there another code to actually change tool?
Thanks in advance for any info/help

What control does your Easiturn have fitted?

Its a PNC3

.
If it is using standard G codes then it is usually the tool number followed by the offset number and then the M06, for example this is what I have in my Cyclone for tool 1 (In station 1 on turret) using offset 1 in offset library.
T0101M06
The first 2 digits (01 etc) tells the control which turret station to go to and the second 2 digits (01 again in this example) tells the control which offset to use and of course the M06 tells the control to execute the command.
Not familiar with your control but on mine there is a third set of digits for tool nose radius compensation when turning curves.
eg T010101M06 on some jobs.

Hi,
In the newer controls there is a parameter to say the toolchanger is fitted. I would expect it is somthing like this as it sounds like the machine is acting as if it has a manual toolpost.
Are there any prompts to change tools?
Will ask around and see if anyone knows more.

I can`t remember what we did on the PNC 3 Control.
Is there a menu that comes up if you press the "T" button once the axis have been datumed. From memory it then asks if & where the tool change is fitted.
The other thought is that it may run of the Auxillarys.

Hi thanks for the feedback
Yeah after zero’ing the machine out, you can press ‘T’ for tool change prompt, which gives you 3 options
1)Display & edit Tool offsets, 2)set tool offsets, 3) change current tool (not sure there in that order)
I go to change tool option type in tool number, 5 for example and the offset changes to tool 5 on the control.
The way the manual I got with the machine reads, when you do the above and you have a Auto tool changer, it will index to that tool.
I don’t think I have any info on parameters or editing parameters, and plus this is first time using a denford control, so all abit new to me.
BTW the lathe was built in 1992 if that means anything?

Hi
Sorry for wasting everybodies time.
I have solved the tool change problem.
Due to my lack of knowledge of the denford control and having a manual which seems very brief in descriptions (pages missing, etc.....)
I missed the tool setting prompt which asked you if its a manual or auto tool changer.
Thanks once again for everybodies input on this subject.

Adee, would you do me a big favour?
I have one of the tool changers, but someone has removed the encoder wheel on the back. I wondered if you would take a photo of the wheel (which will either have a castelated edge or lots of holes drilled in it?
If I can see what it looks like, I can get a replacement laser-cut - and hopefully have a working changer!
Thanks in advance,
Si

Simon
If it is anyhting like the Orac one then the disc consist of black and reflected patches arranged in binary coded decimal format (BCD) and 3 opto sensors reading the 3 tracks.
Try looking at -

and images 308 and 309 to give you an idea of the electronics

I've found that two of the three optical detectors have died - which I guess is why it had been dismantled in the first place!
I'm going Mach - so I will have to build a controller for the toolpost anyway - and might as well replace the optos with inductive pickups and a laser-cut wheel.
Thanks for your help though!
