Good day all
New here and this is most likely a dumb question , but I have just come into the possession of the lathe in the above subject line. Anyway all I have for power in my shop is 240 3 phase. The lathe has a transformer with it but 480 to 416/240. The lathe was in a local High School, never powered up there, and they were going to scrap it. The question is since the lathe takes 415v 50hz , and the spindle motor is duel voltage and 50/60 hz , how could I go about reconfigureing for the 240v 3 phase, or do I have to get a transformer. Getting a suitable 3 phase transformer would be the easiest option.

If you do want to change the voltage, then you'll need to reconfigure all the motors for 240V (turret, coolant, and spindle + cooling fan), adjust the motor current overloads, you may need a new VFD unless you can configure it to run on the lower voltage/higher current, and install new transformers for the control supplies.

It is doable, however it may be just as cheap to buy a 3ph step-up transformer.

Thank you Moray for the info, this is what I kidna figured. I am new to CNC lathes, we do have a CNC burn table that is a Hypertherm and do pretty well with that so this will be a learning experience for me setting this lathe up. I appreciate any help I can get and will more than likely be back here with a ton of questions. Thanks again. Mike
