Upgrade Workstation and software for Cyclone TU150

Post by andy ho » Wed 05 Oct , 2011 4:24 am

Any idea where to upgrade my Cyclone TU150 Mitsubishi Robot workstation? The workstation is too old to operate and we may have hard drive failure and there is no way to get new hard drive anymore. Please comment, Thank you.

Can you tell us what control system it is ?
Is it the CIM host computer that is down ?
Is it a standard form 486/pentium III PC inside the Cyclone ?
Is it a 3U rack mounted PC card inside the Cyclone ?
Please post photos of the inside of the cabinet so we can advise.

What It can tell on site is 3 units of Mitsubishi standalone workstation with Denford Tutor Keyboard to control the machine.

We will post the photo to you tomorrow.

I think the Cyclone (TU150CY) is serial No EO5034 1997 (Brunei) and had an Optimised Issuer 4 rack control card. In theory this Cyclone will upgrade, but unfortunately we have not had the opportunity to carry out this type of upgrade and check the control software works OK.

So what should I do now. You mean if there is any hardware failure on the card or the workstation, you can't support this machine anymore?

Or you have the solution to change the entire data acquisition part together with the software? We don't mind to spend some money to make it work.

This type of cyclone control has never been updated to the latest USB control card so we don't know what problems may be encountered electrically or changes to the logic may be required. Therefore it would involve the machine coming back to Denford UK or one of our engineers to perform the upgrade on site.

Going back to the original problem however, I wonder if you can find a replacement hard disk (eg on ebay) or similar vintage PC from which to run the machine ?

Please give us a quote to upgrade to USB control card and change of electrical and logic part. Do include an engineer to Brunei service charges as well. Thank you.

Hi,
Sorry for the delay - it is school holidays here now so some staff are on holiday this week.
Please let us know some details like establishment name, address, contacts, phones number, emails etc... and we will be able to quote towards the end of this week.

One thing I'm worried about is whether you still want the upgraded Cyclone to work within the CIM or are happy to have it as a standalone lathe ?
Integrating an upgraded machine into the older CIM will be very difficult (if not impossible) as DOS CIM machines work in different ways.
