Homeless parameter?

Post by youngguns3 » Mon 27 Sep , 2010 18:03 pm

Hi y'all,

Again, thank all of you for your help. I have most everything working now, but am not out of the woods yet.

I loaded the parameters you gave me last month, and it definitely helped.

I do have a question (again). When you home the machine, isn't it supposed to go to zero? The reason I ask is when I try to run a program that was already loaded, it asks to zero the machine. When I home the machine, it goes to X - 5.1940 and Z - 1.840. It then gives error messages when you try to start the program.

Is there a procedure to get the machine to home to zero that I may be missing? I tried the settings from the files you gave me, and most everything is working now. I think the range that controls the home position is N0700 to N0726. Also, I tried to change N8140 to N8151, but the controller will not let me do that. Is this a protected area?

Thanks,
Bill Gillen

Parameters around 700 sound right - the others sound to be axis drive parameters so I'd leave them alone.

You should find one set of parameters which are loaded into the position display when homed - in the X this value should correspond to the distance from boring tool holder to centreline of chuck. Z will be the distance from home to the face of the chuck.
You would also normally have to set tool and work offsets as well. These are probably zero, so may need checking.

My 2 cents worth

You have to set up your machine offsets first, most used method is to "touch off" your piece of stock on both the X and Z axis and input the the offset values to the machine offset screen.
"MENU OFSET" key on your top right keypad to get to the machine offset screen.

This should then give you a reading of X0 and Z0 when the machine is homed.

Right now the program is not the right one for the offsets currently in the machine so the control is trying to send the tool to a position outside the machine limits which is causing the alarms.

Rob
