We have a Compact 1000 that is several years old. It was used when first purchased for several months until it began to show that the safety shield was open even though it was closed. At that time we checked the switch and wiring and could not figure out the problem. We were waiting for distributor to help.
Since that time- Distributor stopped carrying Denford.
Our Engineering Tech program closed for several years.
Now we would like to bring the machine back into service.
Could anyone help with exactly what updates/downloads we need to make the machine work with a newer computer? If we can get everything downloaded and set up then maybe we can address the safety lockout.
Thanks for any help, budgets are tight and we don't want the machine sitting here doing nothing.

Enter as much information about your CNC hardware and software as you can - it makes it easier for everyone to know what you're talking about then. - Location: Sunny Brighouse

Re: Need steps to 'resurrect' Compact 1000
You can get the latest software downloads from our website here:
https://www.website.denford.ltd.uk/suppo ... -downloads
Note that if you have VRMilling 2 then you may have difficulty getting it installed and working on a Windows 7 PC - it may be worth trying the compataibility modes though.
If the machine is RS232 interface then again you may struggle with a new PC (ie not having serial COM ports)
IIRC the compact guard door (shield) just had a magnetic reed switch - two blue rectangles - one on the door and one on the cabinet.
If they are held closely together and the software still thinks the door is open then it could be:
1. A wire has come loose
2. The switch is faulty
3. The input on the Baldor control card is faulty (test by fitting wiring a switch to the input and GND- zero volts DC)
