Hi,
Can anyone explain how come I see smoke from my R-Type Block?
I am using 4 flutes ball nose milling bit at stepover 15% with 23000rpm. What is wrong? With 2 flutes, it is fine.

Re: Burning smell from R-Type Block
The machine is not moving quickly enough so the cutting flutes are mostly rubbing against the wood instead of cutting it - causing it to smoke
Either:
Decrease the spindle speed RPM
or
Increase the axis feed (mm/min)
