QuickTURN2D v1.12 released 16th Mar 2012

Post by Denford Admin » Fri 16 Mar , 2012 14:52 pm

//v1.11 - Rotation Animation of 3D window
//v1.11 - Fix to thread display if thread tool not defined or has a angle less than 10 degrees
//v1.11 - updates to shared machine file stuff have been made for VR turning 6, wizard updated etc...
// - fixed a problem with thread adjustment allow on screen option - kept turning itself off
//v1.11 - fixes to simulation and turning tips. Tips not being drawn correctly and slight discrepancies caused simulation to show tools flattening off the backs of arcs - especially if tool had a shallow clearance angle
//v1.11 - Added option to only leave finishing amount on in X (diameter) - helps issues with hard materials, and the tool coming up to a face full-on when doing finishing cut
//v1.11 - Updated to OpengGL stuff
//v1.11 - changes made to DXF import joining lines procedure - needs testing still
//v1.11 - changes to load or create default mml file - location of it was hardcoded and didn't work in vista or win7
//v1.11 - icon changed to look better on win7 / vista
//v1.12 - tests for windows 7 and changes to way seckey gets installed (new app SecKeyHelp done)
//v1.12 - any files installed into commonappdata that want to be writable need copying into localappdata
//v1.12 - fix to arcs going wrong way on roughing but ok on finishing -
// - the same fix may need implementing for arcs greater than +180 ?
//v1.12 - improvements to internal arc editing
//v1.12 - made the default .fnl (post) output directory the same as the .LCM load or saved directory
//v1.12 - changed default material set to be Microtun_basic so turn270 users are forced to select theirs - hopefully stopping microturn users from using settings too harsh for their machine

"//v1.12 - made the default .fnl (post) output directory the same as the .LCM load or saved directory"

Can this be edited so I can set the default folder for the .fnl files?

At the moment no, you should save the design 1st and it will default to use that same location for the post-processed .fnl file.
I think that makes sense for most users - it will keep the design and G code file together in the same directory / project folder.

We can probably add a "default post output" setting into the .ini file which could be used if it is ever set.

NB.
When upgrading an existing QuickTurn2D to v1.12 on Windows 7 or Vista you may get an error like this when closing the application:
Cannot write to "c:\documents and settings\USERNAME\application data\denford\machines\quickturn_default.mml"

In this case it is best to locate and DELETE these files:
QuickTurn2d.ini - in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Denford
Optionally any material files (*.mml) in this folder:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Denford\Machines\

If you have made changes to the material or tooling files, then don't delete them. If you do, however, the newly installed material files will be copied into the user folder instead. In effect resetting all the tool and material settings to our current defaults.
