Denford Triton RS-232 cable error

Post by jsheets » Tue 24 Apr , 2007 15:58 pm

RS-232 error when using new Lenovo desktop running XP Pro connected to Denford Triton milling machine.

The VR Milling runs OK but unable to connect thru RS-232 cable on PC.

Denford repair rep moved the RS-232 cable to his laptop and had no problem connecting and using the Triton machine.

Cable and Triton OK.

Any help???

RS232 cable error solution

Post by jsheets » Wed 02 May , 2007 16:01 pm

I found the answer to the RS232 error problem.
The PC I was using had ROLAND software on it and the ROLAND software took control of the COM port and did not let VR Milling software access the COM port.
Removing the ROLAND software solved the problem.

Hardware/Software: Go to User Control Panel > Profile
Enter as much information about your CNC hardware and software as you can - it makes it easier for everyone to know what you're talking about then.

Sorry - We must have missed your original post

Anyway - glad you found the answer - its one of the most common causes of RS232 issues - another favourite is Activesync running looking for a PDA connection on the RS232 ports
