I have a Triac VMC, We finally got the software running (VRmilling Ver.5) and connected to the machine (with the USB connection), it says it is homing but nothing moves. Then it errors out at 55 seconds. If anyone has any ideas please throw them my way.

Triac VMC
Serial # EO4231
Serial of Electrics is used 000012028
Export # 4281
Dispatch date April 93

It may be the Axis Drive curcuit breaker that has tripped. Have a look inside the electrics in the end panel. Have the drives got any signs of power to them? I think there should be a 10/15 amp C/B that may have tripped. It will be marked up AD C/B or similar.

I have got far enough to tell if there is power to the motors, it doesn't look like it right now, I found the Pnumatics box and was able to get the tool change to move up and down. Are you talk about breakers in the main power box, I didn't find any in there.

Had a quick look at the electrical drawings from here:

Looks like you should check F4 or F3 which is a 6.3AMP fuse going to the axes drive transformer.
You'll also need to check ESR relay is energised - if not, it could be that air pressure is too low for example.

We went though the ESR circuit and that is working fine. For some reason the Electrical Box is working fine we have communications, it recognizes if the door is open or the emo as been pressed, but it will not home, we can't move any of the axises, I was able to move them manually so they are not stuck, it seems like we can't communicate with the motors. I've checked all the fuses, but I will check what you have suggested, Then of course the electrical diagrams don't match the machine. I've just started working with this type of machine so it could be just something I'm missing. So if anybody has any thing, let me know and I'll check it out.
Thank you

I wondered about this after my post when I saw that you mention Servo in the title and I haven't come across any servo drive Triac drawings (yet)

I wonder if a photo of your cabinet whilst the power is on may help ?

First thing to do is select TRIAC VME from the menu:
Setup > Select Machine...

See if that fixes things

We tried that, that option is not available.

Can you install the latest version - TRIAC VME is definately there and should be the one to have selected for your machine.
VMC 1300 is a completey different machine

It can be hard to match the machine type to the software sometimes.

Can Trident use EasyUpgrader to set the card as TRIAC VME?
I can`t remember if it`s on the list.

I tried changing it to Triac VME with loading it with ALLOFFSETS.MOF and with default setting. Still nothing moves. It recognizes if the door is opened or closed or if the EMO is pressed but still nothing moves

Also I don't know if it is different but our machine says VMC

Have a look at the three fuses on the backplane just above the axis drive cards.

Can you see if the x axis ballscrew has power to it by manually turning it with the E-Stop out & in?

I'll check again the fuses, we had to replace the fuse holders and I believe they are all new fuses.

Triac VME is the one to use for the Eurocard machines which have been upgraded to V5 and USB (VME indicates the control uses a VME bus / euro card system)
As Martin says, check if the stepper motors are getting energised by trying to move an axis ballscrew by hand - with estop out and after pressing the green(?) power on button, the drives should energise and you won't be able to move the screw. Hit Estop and you should then be able to move it.

I've checked all the fuses except for F4 because I can't find it. I checked all the one by the eurocard too. One thing I did notice is GR is engaged. When i press the EMO the ESR disengages and so does the GR. When I release the EMO the ESR engages and 10 seconds later the GR engages. I don't know if that is normal or not.

Basically it all seems to be working but it will not home.

I have 90 psi on the side of the black box on the back of the machine.

The drives move manually.

It may be worth removing the two cards in the rack marked Euro Card & Custom Card.

Then make sure the ribbon is clamped in at both ends & then refitting.

It sounds like it is a bad connection either to the back plane or via the ribbon cable between them.
