Triac-Fanuc ATC 1004 SPINDLE DRIVE FAULT Problem

Hi everyone,
I have just been given a TRIAC- FANUC ATC milling machine by a local college to use as a training aid for apprentices.
It had a few faults but was in good condition and seemed to be worth investing in, these faults have all been rectified except one.
The error code says:
1004 SPINDLE DRIVE FAULT
The spindle drive board had faults but these have now been rectified and the outputs check out ok. the machine will reference and jog in the X,Y,Z axis, but the spindle will not turn.
Has anybody any bright idea on whats possible wrong, and how to rectify it.
Regards
Paul

If memory serves, the 1004 message is a simple one that the PMC logic generates from an input - from the fault output of the drive.
You need to be looking more closely at the spindle drive LED display for errors on there.
Which drive is it ? (A06B...) we should have a manual for it

I think that most of the Triac Fanucs were fitted with a Sprint 1600i spindle drive. There is a fault ouput on the drive though not sure of the terminals/ wire numbers. Does the power LED light up?

Hi,
The two power LED's both light up on the spindle drive board, and there is 24volts going into the drive motor, but the same "1004 fault" remains.
The spindle turns freely by hand, and all axis drives move in Jog and Home using the control panel, F3 fuse is also ok.
Is there an electrical drawing on the forum for the spindle drive board, that will allow us to check output/inputs to components etc.
Regards
Paul

Hi again,
The spindle drive board we think is causing the problem is a CT1 9852 or sprint 1600i, the machine is a 2001 vintage.
The two LED lights in the top left hand corner of the board are both on, but the same fault remains.
Is there a printed circuit board drawing/diagram for this drive so we can check the board components?
Hope this answers most questions
Regards
Paul

Many thanks for the drive board manual, the electronics guys are checking things.
I will let you know how they get on etc, and whether it rectifies the fault.

A new Sprint 1600i has now been fitted to rectify the fault.
