VR CNC Milling v5 'Invalid Value'

Post by ceme » Mon 12 May , 2008 8:59 am

Hi all

Hoping you can help with this problem we're experiencing at our campus.

Currently running VR CNC Milling v5 but for any user (student and admins) using the program when you click on the 'Convert to 3D' button a popup box appears saying 'Invalid value' (see attachment)

Then when you click 'OK' on the message another popup instantly appears and the only way to then close the application down is to end task via Task Manager.

This occurs on every machine with the program installed.
We have tried uninstalling and reinstalling.
We have also installed the latest update but the issue still occurs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Try turning Harware acceleration off in the monitor settings.

This looks like a graphics card problem running the Open GL graphics.

As Martin says try turning down the hardware acceleration.

Update

Just to give you guys an update on how things are going:

When Denford is run using a local administrator accounts the program works fine. However when you run the program as a domain user or domain administrator you get the 'Invalid Value' error come up.

After some investigation work we found that the Application Data\Denford folder only populated when using the local admin account and not when using a domain account as you can see in the attachment.

If i try lowering the Hardware acceleration as suggested i got a black screen in the simulation rather than the 'Invalid value' (see attachment).

Have just tried adding a local account with administrative rights but this doesn't actually work either so the only that it seems to work with is the local administrator account.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

My guess would be that VRMilling5.ini has been recreated in the users docs and settings folder, but the DenVRM.ini file is missing or corrupt ? - this could cause problems with the VR machine coming up with an error.
There are also settings inside VRMilling5.ini and DenVRM.col, so I'd also check those files are present and correct. (they be lurking on the installation CD somewhere)

Another customer is seeing the "invalid value" error and it seems to be related to the installation and who is logged in at the time:
In versions up to and including v5.31, the 2D/3D simulation will cause errors if DenVRM.ini is missing or corrupt.
This issue has been addressed in 5.32, but has not been released yet (1st March 2010)

When the software is installed for the users, the file DenVRM.ini must exist in:
C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data\Denford

The file on the CD could be copied across from the folder: D:\VRMilling5\Application Data\Denford
