Initially the VR Milling Ver 2 software only ran if a Dongle with the correct attributes (MILLER32) was located in the parallel port of the PC. If the dongle was not present then the message "Dongle not found" would be displayed.

Later developments in the protection of the software allowed FLASH CODES, these codes were on a 3-1/2" floppy titled "Registration Disc" and the appropriate box ticked for VR Milling.

The sequence that the software used, was to look for a Dongle first, if it did not find one, it would then look for a flash code and if it did not find a flash code it would display the "Dongle not found" error message. It really should have been "Dongle/Flash code not found".

Therefore you only need to put the "Registration Disc" in the drive, navigate to the contents of A Drive and double click the FLASH.EXE file and it will install the Flash code

Hardware/Software: Go to User Control Panel > Profile
Enter as much information about your CNC hardware and software as you can - it makes it easier for everyone to know what you're talking about then.

Alternatively (or if the FLASH.EXE doesn't work)...
  • go to the location of the file flash.ini

    double click this file (it should open up in Notepad)

    press CTRL-A to SELECT all the text

    press CTRL-C to COPY the text

    close notepad

    go to c:\program files\denford\vrmilling

    double click on windmill.ini (to open in notepad again)

    :!: double check there are not already entries for FLASH_USER or FLASH_CODE :!: - if there are, then delete them

    then at the top of the file, press enter to create a blank line

    press CTRL-V to Paste the text in
your ini file should now look like this....

Code: Select all

[FLASH]
Ini_File=Windmill.ini
Flash_User=some school, someplace, UK
Flash_Code=R44N-HC8X-AT4T-3FGN-G9DR-62U8

[directories]
machine list file=C:\Program Files\Denford\VRMilling\machine list.ini
XNC Folder=C:\Denford\Data\
