DFX import

Post by Martin » Fri 14 Sep , 2007 16:04 pm

When I import a DXF file I can machine an area to a given depth, but what if I have a region in the area that I don’t want to machine. When you use 2D Design the area fill asks if you have any islands, does VR Milling not have a similar function, or do you have to beak down the area before importing ?

When I imported my first DXF file I drew all the geometry which needed machining at one depth on one layer and another depth on a different layer. I don’t appear to be able to select geometry by layers, am I doing something wrong ?

There is a help tutorial on importing DXF files within the VR Milling help.

(Drawing Import Tutorial)

This explains how you select layers and also islands in the machining stratergies.

If you find anything that is not covered please post it up here and I will try and help.
