Dongle access on NT and XP

We are aware of problems with our windows based software not detecting dongles on Windows NT/2000/XP operating systems.

The symptoms of this problem are that the dongle IS detected when the user is logged in as an Administrator, but NOT detected when he user is logged in as a regular user.

The solution to this problem is to edit the permissions of the registry entry...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SIL

Granting regular USERS, FULL PERMISSIONS to this registry key

On Windows NT, run REGEDT32 to edit the registry
On Windows 2000 and Windows XP, run REGEDIT to edit the registry
Then right-click on the above mentioned key name, select permissions, highlight the USERS category and check the FULL permissions tick box.

1. Make sure the Parallel port is set to ECP in BIOS
2. Run SL2INST.EXE from the UTILS directory on your software CD
