Have opened zip file OK, but appears to be in machine code, does it have to be opened in EdgeCAM?

Yes I'm pretty sure you'll have to open the file with EdgeCAM or place it into the correct directory (something like: C:\Program Files\EdgeCAM\Machdef - wherever the other post .mcp files are)
