PNC4 Operating manual 1987

I've run this scanned manual through OCR, so it should be searchable

Hello,

I am trying to use the PNC-4 controller to draw a circle by G02/03 but it seams like it splits it two 4-5 arcs and it stops after finishing each sub_arc and starts the new one.
Is there any way that O could force the PNC-4 to do it smoothly and once?

Reza

I'm pretty sure the answer will be no.
Arc movement being split into quadrants was probably necessary due to limitations in the stepper control interpolator (in firmware or hardware even?)

Thanks a lot for your reply, I really appreciate that,

But, referring to the section 4.3.3 of the manual, apparently it can be done by changing SWA.4 to on position.

here is the actual context:

" It will be seen that the 350 0 arc in block 2 is split into five
seperate smaller arcs of 21.80 , 90 0 , 90 0 , 90 0 , and 58.2 or each of
which is executed seperately. However, if the continuous constant
feed movement facility (see 2.8) is used, the complete arc will be
profiled in a Single continuous movement."

However, It does the same thing even though I set the SWA.4 to on position.

Do you have any idea?

Sorry no, none of us here at Denford have any experience or knowledge of the PNC controls (only what we've found and scanned in the manuals)

Hi Guys,

I have a big problem in drawing arcs using PNC4 controller. They are not neat and
They have like some kind of random distortion on them. I should add that the table is so big and heavy too.
It would be highly appreciated if any one could
help me out of this.

Faithfully,
Reza

What machine is it ?
Photos would help.
I also think you should start a new topic under the machines section as it now sounds more of a machine problem

It's a M800 Electrox laser machin and the table dimension is 94x49 inches.

Hi,

It was the CNC backlash problem ;)

That's good to know, sorry we couldn't help more.

Was the backlash mechanically fixed or by the control ?

That's fine,

The controller is to old to fix the backlash, we made it mechanically.
