Eliptical Curve on Lathe

Post by boots » Thu 08 Mar , 2007 18:56 pm

Is there a way to program an eliptcal curve on a Microturn.
We plan on doing pens and want to do a partial eliptical curve not just a taper or radius. Is there a G Code for this? or is this written code?
Thank you

Hardware/Software: Go to User Control Panel > Profile
Enter as much information about your CNC hardware and software as you can - it makes it easier for everyone to know what you're talking about then.

I don't know of any G code which would produce a curve.

I would stick to drawing it with arcs - a series of joined arcs can give the same effect as an ellipse or curve.
I'm sure Steve has some lathe pen examples - I'll ask him to post them up here
