Here is a Dinasour project
The joints in the parts are numbered to allow you to fit them together.
There will be some work required to lay them out on the bed of the laser.

The slot size is 3mm so 3mm acrylic or MDF should be used.

Steve sent me the .MCM file for this today, although it requires some work! Some of the lines start in red, (ie a cut through the material) and end in black, (a raster on the top of the material). I have been working my way through the file and splitting it into 2 files so that it fits on the 610mm X 305mm bed on my Versalaser. I will upload files when they are complete, unless Steve beats me to it!

Have done some work on this file but still not ready to post the finished thing :(

I tried to cut it in cast acrylic but the material is brittle and also varies in thickness.

The disadvantage of MDF would be that it is hard on the extraction filters.

Should get the file up here this week. Have converted the text to blue outline and the vector outlines to red and resized for 600 x 300 sheet.

Hi Steve, I had a go at this file, I resized it to fit on a 610 x 305 table and fixed what I could see of the broken lines in the drawing. Also some of the piece numbers were red so I fixed them.
I tried to cut the first piece and at the end of rastering the numbers the laser and carriage stopped and the green light on the versa laser control panel went out. :( I thought this was a bit strange!. I checked over the file and all seemed O.K. so I tried it again, same thing happened. I am not going to try any more until I can figure out what is happening. Any ideas would be helpful.

Hi,

I corrected the drawing and converted the vectors so that it would cut.

The number of points in the vector outline seemed to slow the whole process down.

I now have this file in Corel Draw 10 and it works well. Do you have corel Draw?

No we don't have Corel Draw. I am more concerned that it shut the laser off like that. Have left this one alone for a while.

Hi Chris,

This happens as well once in a great while to our Versalaser as well. I can't figure it out as well but I believe it has to do with some kind of overheating, to much information to process or to much depth to cut. (We've achieved cutting 10mm cast acrylic a while ago).

Try cutting less objects at a time.

A thing that might be happening is actualy too much information for what I read on the previous posts. The objects may be broken appart so the laser goes from one cut to the other not performing a flowing cut as it should.
