Supply of gear for Viceroy lathe

Viceroy lathe model: TDS/1/1GB/L
Serial no.:TDS/1/1/7471

Does any one know where I might get hold of a 32 tooth gear for connecting the chasing dial to the 8 turns per inch lead screw on the above lathe. Following an enquiry made of Denfords in 1988, I understand that the part number for this item was: ML109/3. Unfortunately it is no longer a stock item!

Can't help directly, but as it is only to drive the screwcutting dial, it doesn't need to be a precision item. Broadly speaking, any nearly-circular piece of material with 32 roughly equal-spaced gashes in it will do.

Have a look at

for ideas.

In that case, you may also be able to make something suitable with a tap and a couple of bearings like this ...
