Re: viceroy 280 synchro electrical issue
Thanks Andy that's very helpful. The contractors you picture are not the ones I have an issue with. There is another control box under the bed which has a pcb with 4 relays on it ( one of these is the issue), two transformers and two contractors. I'm guessing that this extra board is one of the 2 s...

Re: viceroy 280 synchro electrical issue
Hi Bill,
I'm sure we have those wiring diagrams somewhere, as I helped fix a similar machine which had a failed contactor coil.
I'll see if I can find them later.

Re: TDS 1/1 Tooling size
It's really a case of using what you can find that fits! The maximum tool size will obviously be determined by the toolpost, and getting the tool tip at the centre height is done using shims/packers for a fixed toolpost, or using the height adjustment in the Dickson or Aloris types of toolpost. Tool...

Re: Viceroy TDS 1/1GBL Coolant pump drive belt
I thought all the TDS1 coolant pumps were made by Hoover ( of the carpet cleaner ) and used a Hoover drive belt. I ccan't remember if it was a Hoover Junior or Senior belt, and as AndyB says they were round belts. I suspect your lathe has possibly been modified. I've checked the Denford modificatio...

Re: TDS 1/1 G.B.L Lathe cross slide feedscrew replacement.
Les, I missed your reference to ML100-514 the first time - so have now added 2 further leadscrew drawings to the thread linked above. I also found ML100-512 for the matching nut(s) - there were 3 different ones used over the 25 or so years in which these lathes were built. Should make playing 'spot ...

Re: Viceroy TDS 1/1GBL Coolant pump drive belt
I've only managed to find an arrangement drawing showing a round (1/4" dia) belt, but I have a drawing of a motor pulley with a 3/8" wide groove for the pump. So it looks like a standard 'Z' section belt. I doubt it would be the slightly deeper 'SPZ' section as the power requirement is quite low. Mo...

Re: viceroy 1/2
Morning Gents. I have checked the wiring against the denford wiring diagram and it appears correct, the selector switch operates correctly and shuts off the power in the central position. Am I right in thinking that the four wires going to the motor X Y B A where A is the neutral and X Y B are to t...

Re: viceroy 1/2
As Les T suggests, some pictures would help. The feed shaft (below the leadscrew, with the slot) is meant to move along its axis - this is the auto-cut-off. You slide the collar along and lock it using the grubscrew. When the apron pushes against it, it slides left and disengages the dog-clutch in t...

Re: Denford Viceroy TDS 1/1 GBL Chuck Wanted
I've put a drawing of the thread and register in this thread . Both the thread size / form and register diameter are apparently the same as Boxfords, and putting "chuck back plate viceroy boxford" into your search engine will show a variety of suppliers. I've read that the tolerances of some items a...

Hi Daver,
Your lathe is a TDS1 LS - 'LS' meaning leadscrew.
I have just posted a diagram of the different lathe models in this thread.

Hi Drew and welcome to the forum. I have put a copy of the drawing showing the Metric end drive arrangement in a new reply in this topic . Hi Anthony, It sounds like a standard 'A' series belt - see table CLASSICAL SECTION V-BELTS about half way down this page: http://www.thebearingshop.co.uk/prod_belts.htm A66 belts are commonly available - for example here: http://www.beltingonline.com/a66-classical-vee-belt-2371 -or from a local bea...
