Thanks Admin,

I'm just in the process of putting the PC and new electronics back into the cabinet... I'll have a good look at this when I can run the spindle again :)
Cheers

Hi Ivan,

I'm about 90% through a retrofit. The general consensus of opinion is to dump the electronics and keep the spindle and axis motors. MACH3 is a software programme that can be used to control the lathe - it outputs signals via the parallel port to a breakout board. The BB is the electronic ...

ORAC chuck spec

Hello all,

I know this question has been asked before, but I've been unable to find if it has been answered :) ....

I'm trying to find the spec for the mounting of a manual chuck as fitted to the ORAC. I've taken it off, and it's a 3 bolt flange, located by a short taper. It looks very much like ...

Hi Admin,

Did you ever find set-up instructions? I've just refitted an ORAC with modern electronics and MACH3... but I have the same tapering cut problem. I've not looked into it any further, but some guidance would be very useful.
TIA,
Paul

Steel or not?

Hi All,

I'm just about to dip my first toe into the waters of CNC.

My question is in the view of the enlightened members of this group, are the ORAC and TRIAC machines suitable for machining steel. This would be in a model engineering/hobby environment, not a production workshop. There again, you ...

Servo motors

Greetings all,

Great site, found by a redirect form the yahoo group - learnt a lot already :D

I'm considering the purchase of a TRIAC that has been retrofitted with gecko 320's and 'servo motors'. I've found out that these servos are infact 24v DC mobility scooter motors (2 x 100W x and y, 200W z ...
