Triac ATC mechanism wanted.
Has anyone got a complete triac ATC mechanism, that has been removed from a machine and no longer needed? I dont need any control gear just the mechanics, I am in the midlands region.

Ok found the manual it all looks straight forward, hope it works,as i havnt put power to it yet.
if not Ive got a eurotherm 508 that should do the job.
is there any market for all the original triac electronics? as im mach3ing this with new steppers and drivers?

triac spindle motor (servo)
Hi I have updated my triac with later steppers/drivers also mach 3.
The machine has the servo type spindle motor,
I would like to control it passively with just a switch and a pot for now,how do I do that?
is there any electronics schematics available?
cheers

Hi,
I think that machine was mine I have sold it now,not to paul though.
The little 24 volt scooter motors work very well, there 6 amps and will take loads of abuse, plus you can buy them off ebay for about £10 brand new.

"Permisable error" is misleading, the servo drives will push to try and get to a zero error. if not then you have a problem.
as far as "overrun is concerned I have always found that the problem is more likley to be the axis slowing down or braking under friction and having the ramp up/down set to ...

Steve,
my encoders have 2000 counts(with quadrilature) I have never noticed them jumping about, even using the 5xmultipler (400 counts) dithering is not noticeable.
I am sure steppers are fine for training machines or positioning non loaded objects.
The differance being,I suppose that I earn my ...

yes, I think this Video gives you all the reason you need to use gecko g340's and servo motors,I wouldnt entertain using steppers on a machine build/conversion now-there nothing but trouble. yes servos can be more expensive, but there are numerous ways to reduce this (attach cheap HEDS encoders to ...

Hi,
if you undo one nut and turn it against the other then lock it back up.
remember you will need some working clearance. Before you do anything make sure the belts are tight. I run mine with .003 backlash because there are no wipers on the ballscrews??? and swarf reguarly gets ingested.

Hi,
cheers for that.any Idea what the standard spindle bearings are rated to
in rpm, can you remember the details on ourating the bearings?
were they bigger,or just higher precision?
