Re: VMC 1300, adjustment procedure to eliminate play in toolholder collet/spindle/drawbar assembly
Thanks for reply Steve👍🏻 I’ve rebuilt the drawbar mechanism and on the whole, things are better 3 out of 4 holders are clamping fine, but I have one holder that just doesn’t want to pull back and lock out on the spindle taper… despite being used without issue in the past!?! I’ve swapped pullstuds, w...

Re: VMC 1300, adjustment procedure to eliminate play in toolholder collet/spindle/drawbar assembly
Is this the same for a Triac? I’ve got a 1995 Triac with bt35 6pos atc. I’ve had increasing issues with tool clamping so stripped the drawbar down to clean and ‘decontaminate’ the expected crud and build up of dust etc from machining grp… Unless they flipped over on removing, there were 3pairs of wa...

Re: Triac Y axis error after G28/Toolchange
Thanks Steve, I’ve narrowed it down to the problem coming when running to, or close to the Y- limit of Y-85.0mm. It is only on occasion. Maybe 20% of the time. It doesn’t seem to do it at lower feed, but not sure. The stepper definitely makes a different sound when the error/skipping occurs. I’ve ru...

Re: Home Position variation and ATC issue
7years have passed since this post, so I’m not holding my breath, but am hoping anyone involved with this can help me!! My Triac is the PC version, rather than fanuc, but it does sound like a similar issue with regard to the shifting in y axis position after a toolchange… I’ve not changed any switch...

Triac Y axis error after G28/Toolchange
Hi all, I’ve been having an issue with my Triac that I just can’t fathom! At first I thought it was programming error on my part, but I’m quite sure I’m not to blame after all!! I’m getting an intermittent issue that only seems to effect the y-axis. Machine homes in XYZ with no issue. After a G28/ho...

Emergency Stop Alarm (Relay)
Having spent the last few months working away merrily, albeit with a few comms glitches, the Triac has been working fine since you fine fellows assisted me in getting it running! However..!! I come to the machine now and switch it on, but the Emergency Stop alarm is showing. Opening and closing guar...

Triac Guard/Interlock
Hi All, I need to cut down some material that is too long to allow the guard to close on my 1993 Triac. Is there a way to override the guard (…I know, I know!! :) ) It has the pneumatic system fitted but I can’t see a regular interlock key/lock anywhere?! If I can temp override the switch/signal, it...

Denford Triac Toolchanging Issue
Since having the machine, I've had a few issues, mostly now overcome thankfully! Something I did NOT have an issue with was the toolchanger... I had full funtionality, but the last couple of days has seen this go 'bad' and the drawbar doesnt seem to be unclamping when the atc raises the tool into th...

Re: Comms dropping out
What is the message you get when loosing connection? Have you checked your PC power saving settings? Make sure the USB is not going into power saving mode. I wasn’t aware of this, but found my laptop had the settings enabled so would have been powering down the USB port. https://www.windowscentral....

Re: Comms dropping out
Thanks Steve, I’ll take a look at pc settings. The pc is active when it drops out, though I’m not sure if there are any background settings for the USB ports specifically? I’ll take a look… The windows message is “USB device not recognised” The pop up within VR5 is “The Device driver call failed” To...

Comms dropping out
Since purchasing my Triac, I’ve had a few issues around the spindle drive, etc though I’ve now resolved these. I’ve been checking all operations, referencing, tool changing etc and have been getting issues occasionally where the USB connection drops out. Whilst an issue with the Baldor board is poss...

Re: BT35 Toolholders
Thanks all for replies… missed them, until now!
My Triac VMC is 100% a BT35, with a 6pos Atc.
Sweep - is your boring set for sale?
Nemo - any of your 30 holders for sale?
Interested in increasing my 5off stock of holders!

Re: Triac Spindle (Issues)
Hi all - thanks for the help & support in identifying the issue with the spindle drive 👍🏻 I sent the drive to Sprint, who were super-helpful by the way, for investigation prior to repair or replacement. It proved not cost effective to repair and the 1600i was recommended as the replacement. A couple...

Re: Triac Spindle (Issues)
Everything I’ve checked has been in line with electrical diagrams… not checked everything, but everything I have has been correct. Spindle activates with 51/53 removed. Disconnected 54 & 55 from Sprint and fitted a 10k linear potentiometer; Spindle fires up as machine boots up (incl. with SGR remove...

Re: Triac Spindle (Issues)
Spent a short amount of time, doing some more investigation tonight… When booting up mill and spindle ramps up, SGR is NOT energised. With SGR removed , spindle still goes rogue and ramps up on its own! Removed #54 & #55 from green bar at lower end… With spindle stopped, 180mV across terminals. 176m...

Re: Triac Spindle (Issues)
Update: With slider at TAC = spindle fires up to high revs and sometimes trips my supply RCD! If it doesn't trip the RCD, I can usually (not every time) start/stop the spindle in VR5, but not alter rpm. With slider at AVF = spindle fires up to lower revs (1k rpm?) then stops. I am not able to start/...

Re: Triac Spindle (Won’t rotate)
Thanks for replies guys 👍🏻 (I’ve also got the thread running on the mycncuk forum…) I changed for a new 10A… Upon firing up the machine, the spindle ramps up to full revs and back down, to approx. 60-100revs, and stays there. I’d not commanded any rpm at this stage. Once I reference the axis, I can ...

Re: Triac Spindle (Won’t rotate)
Found 10A fuse #F1 was blown. Swapped out and restarted machine. Spindle ramped up to high(ish) speed immediately (before even referencing the axis), at same time the fuse blew again. Any thoughts? *edit* rechecked and the fuse I replaced the 10A with was only 3.15A! Will get some more 10A and retry...

Re: Triac Spindle (Won’t rotate)
If the ‘on’ LED isn’t illuminated, is it possible this is a power supply (to the sprint drive) issue, rather than an issue with the drive itself? The fuse on the drive is fine, but are there others ‘up stream’ that could be causing the issue? I found the attached ‘post-it’ in a manual that was suppl...
