Interesting, when I say drawbar I mean the bolt that came with the machine. How are those collets in terms of leaving marks on the taper? did they need a bit of work with a file?

Changed the controller to a KBIC 240D and it spins well, need to tune the KBIC as it spun up the spindle to over 7000rpm (according to the cheap amazon tacho).

Do you kind folk think it is an issue with the sprint 400?

Thank you David, will investigate. It tripped 2 RCDs but not the one in the middle. The extension cord has an RCD plug, the socket is RCD and the fusebox as an RCD, and it would trip the Socket and the fusebox.
