Spindle warmup procedure
After speaking to someone the other day it occurred to me that many Nova Mill owners may be quite new to CNC and G-coding and, like the person I was speaking to, may not be aware that you should always warm your spindle up before use (or may simply be unsure how long it should warm up for, or which ...

Re: novamill atc retrofit
I realise I'm a little late to the table and I haven't read the whole way through this thread, but i thought I'd throw a little compromise idea into the ring for those who might want a (slightly) simpler solution. The last Haas I bought had a 24-tool carousel mounted vertically, between this and the...

Re: A low profile, flat modular clamping system/vice for Nov
Hi Joe The table looks great! Any chance of posting the drawings or sending me them? I'm struggling to find a vice or good quality low profile repeatable system, and this looks ideal. Thanks Jon Hi Jon, yes I'll see if I can upload the files to here for anyone who it might be useful to. Apologies f...

Re: A low profile, flat modular clamping system/vice for Nov
the vices sold with the boxford 190 and 240 are pretty good for the novamill, the one supplied with the 190 is slightly smaller. If you go on the boxford website you can see the exploded view of the vice. Thanks, just had a look at them. I'd already made this one though and (for my purposes at leas...

A low profile, flat modular clamping system/vice for Novamil
Hi all, just bought myself a Novamill (been looking for one for ages), first thing I noticed is the limited Z travel. I intend to raise the column at some point, in the mean time I was looking for a low profile vice but was unable to find one that matched my needs. That led to me making my own, a st...

Re: Software for Engraving on a sphere
Hi, I know this is a couple of years old but for the benefit of anyone else who might be looking for a solution, I use Mastercam for 3D engraving (and for just about all my CAM needs) but, obviously, it's astronomically expensive. A free option would be HeeksCAD/HeeksCNC, Google it and download. Tut...
