Free RS-232 cable for Micromill / Lathe / Balfor top board

I converted a Micromill to parallel port control and no longer need the RS-232 cable that used to go from the case to the Balfor motion control top board inside the unit.

Photos of the cable can be found at the bottom of this post:

Re: HOWTO: Driver Stepper motors with parallel break out boa

Update 2:

I've gotten PWM spindle motor speed control using the circuitry on the NextMoveST board (via the SOUT pin that is wired to the KB spindle motor controller).

Short answer: Solder a 200-220 ohm resistor to Pin 3 of the OptoIsolator (HCNW4503) and wire that to an output. (Active when low ...

Re: NextMove ST: Controlling SOUT via PWM to bottom card?

For anybody looking to do PWM control via the bottom board (Balfor Next Move ST SOUT signal) I figured out how to do it.

There is no pin that exposes the ...

Re: NextMove ST: Controlling SOUT via PWM to bottom card?

Brilliant info!! I was wondering about the noise on the spindle motor as it was suggested that some of the issues I have with the units at work where it looses position could be down to aging motors and more noise. I was wondering about adding suppression to the motor.

I was able to just ...

NextMove ST: Controlling SOUT via PWM to bottom card?

I have removed the top card of the NextMove ST board from a MicroMill 2000 (Dispatch Date 2005) and connected to the step/direction pins and home/ESTOP/SGR via a parallel port break out board successfully using Mach3 and LinuxCNC.

Lots of details here:

HOWTO: Driver Stepper motors with parallel break out board

I have successfully connected a parallel port break out board to the stepper motor driver on my ScanTek 2000 (a re-branded Denford Micromill 2000) and have the 3 axis moving under Mach3 / LinuxCNC control.

I've posted a video explaining how I did it here:

Re: Upgrade micromill and turn hardware?

and is it as simple as connecting the wires to the new board and hooking it up to a computer with mach3?
Thanks

Well, for the stepper motors, yes, it is. See this link:

Re: Lost key for Micromill

I ended up buying a whole replacement key switch and I was then able to copy the keys. I have the key switch and a set of keys listed on ebay. Search for "Saia-Burgess Key Spare TOK 1 - Denford" my user name on Ebay is QSP01. Best of luck on your mill. I have done a lot of work on mine. I ended up ...

2005 dispatch Micromill with USB port on the topboard?

I have a dispatch date2005 Scantek 2000 (re-branded denford Micromill) and the top board has what looks to be a USB type B port just below the DB9 serial pin port.

(It also has what looks to be an Ethernet port on the side...)

I currently have a USB serial port adapter ...

Re: Lost key for Micromill

I would also like to purchase a replacement key (if possible) or whole switch unit (if the key alone is not available).

I have a ScanTek 2000 Dispatch date October 2005.

It does NOT have a button to turn the power on, just the keyswitch and a light. The keyswitch looks a lot like the links above ...
