Re: Vertical milling slide for TDS 1/2 PCS?

Hi I just took the topslide off to check and there is a spigot protruding from the cross slide as you say, so the Boxford vertical slide would not fit. From what I understand, the vertical slide needs to be extremely rigid for any serious atrempt at milling, so attaching it via the T-slots on the to...

Re: Vertical milling slide for TDS 1/2 PCS?

Hi Dazz I agree, it is better to get decent second hand. I have seen a Boxford advertised but can't see how this will fit on the Viceroy cross slide because it has a male spigot. Having looked at your strip down of your Viceroy there doesn't see to be a recess for the spigot in the top of the cross ...

Re: Vertical milling slide for TDS 1/2 PCS?

Hi Andy, Thanks for the reply. My milling requirements are pretty small and space is a premium so the vertical slide should suffice for me. As there are no t-slots on the cross slide I guess I would have to make some sort of adaptor plate unless I can get hold of a Viceroy compatible vertical slide....

Vertical milling slide for TDS 1/2 PCS?

I am thinking of getting a vertical milling slide for my Viceroy TDS 1/2 PCS. Can anyone help me with a few questions? 1. Could a vertical slid such as the one sold by Chronos be used on my lathe http://www.chronos.ltd.uk/acatalog/info%5fSVMS%2ehtml 2. If so how could I fit it? Does it go on the top...

Re: Viceroy Change gears how many folks are missing them ?

Hi Steve Just saw this post. I am on a similar hunt for changewheels for my TDS 1/2 metric lathe. From looking at the drawings this is what the full set should look like and the ones I have indicated by 'Yes'. They should all be DP of 18 (don't make the mistake I made of buying 16 DP from ebay which...

Re: Denford Vicerory TDS1 PCS in a sorry state _ Rebuild?

Hi John, Thanks for your reply. I have enabled the pm but probably best to communicate on the forum for the benefit of others. From looking at the drawings this is what I understand a full set of idler and changewheel gears for my metric lathe should be. The ones which I posses have indicated with '...

Re: Denford Vicerory TDS1 PCS in a sorry state _ Rebuild?

Hi Richard,

Of course, thanks for pointing out the obvious. I did see the change gears on ebay and bought one, but I have the metric lathe and they are the wrong number of teeth - or can I get away with odd combinations which get close?

Thanks for the info

Re: Denford Vicerory TDS1 PCS in a sorry state _ Rebuild?

Hi I am new to the forum and have just acquired a Metric TDS 1/2 PCS with a view to learning how to use it for making small parts for steel bicycle builds. The lathe was working when I collected it but I had to break it down by removing the apron from the bed, and the bed/headstock from the cabinet ...
