How do I remove the Z-axis ballscrew, for replacement?
Anyone done this before, or have any thoughts on how it could be done? Mine is a January 1999 model (serial number 81014C) and has double ballnuts on the Z axis. Obviously it means removing the body from the base, but I was going to do that anyway to fit a raising block. As a supplementary question,...

How do you remove the head from a Novamill?
I need to remove the whole head casting with spindle intact from the column so that I can make some mods to the column casting. I've studied the various cross sections on the site but can't see how you would get the belt off to free the head for removal. Anyone done this successfully or have any tips?

Re: Triac minimum dimensions sought
In case it will help others in the future who are short of bench space, I'm now in a position to answer my own question.
Minimum dimensions of the Traic's base casting are 562mm deep by 270mm wide.

Re: Pulling column off an early Triac - any tips?
rent a small van. £50 from most van hire places....sooooo much easier. Trouble is I wouldn't be able to get the machine out when I got it home! My little engine crane is only rated to 175kg - it's a converted 'patient lifter' that's very compact and so is extremely useful even inside the workshop, ...

Pulling column off an early Triac - any tips?
I'm picking an early all-green Triac up at the weekend and will need to get the column off the base so that I can fit the two resultant lumps into the back of my vehicle. Has anyone done this splitting operation before, and if so do they have any tips or a suggested plan of action? I'm assuming the ...

Re: Oiling system on early Triac?
I take it that means you'd need to have access to the rear of the column in order to fill the oiler?angel-tech wrote:inside the pillar usually
Which in turn would make mounting the unit on a bench well nigh impossible.
I presume that's why they moved the oiler outside the column on later models.

Early versus late spindle motor?
Can anyone tell me the difference between the early short/fat spindle motor (as used in the all-green Triacs) and the later tall thin motor? Is the later one a big improvement?

Oiling system on early Triac?
Does the early all-green Triac have an oiler built in (can't see one in any pics of it)? If not, how is it oiled?

Triac minimum dimensions sought
Hi folks. I'm planning on installing a Triac for an upcoming project but, as I'm very pushed for space in my narrow workshop, I'd like to remove the Triac from its case or stand and mount it bare on the bench (with control electrics reboxed under the bench). Could some kind soul with a Triac availab...
