"You'll need to remove the castellated nut, and then knock the leadscrew downwards out of the casting. The nut is what sets the preload on the two bearings that control endfloat, whereas the bearing at the opposite end is just to provide support.

I too just got a local machine shop to make me a spacer. Can't wait to fit it in (though I have to modify the ATC as well)

Q1 - once the 4 large bolts at the base is undone, the entire Z column with everything else attached to it also lifts up with the column ...

Any luck removing the Z Axis lead screw?

I'm stumped by it too. I need to remove it so I can replace he spindle drive belt.

Appreciate any info on technique to remove the Z Leadscrew
