QT2DD Making massive cuts when machining internal arcs.
I produced the attached drawing using QT2DD (I zipped it because the forums won't accept .lcmfiles) I then used the CAM Wizard to generate GCode in an .fnl file which is also attatched. When I simulate running the code using QT2DD the internal turning tool makes a massive cut which would undoubtedly...

Re: Internal machining. Error messages.
Thanks for that Mitch. A bit of experimenting shows that the minimum size of drilled hole that can be used as a starting point for boring is 12mm dia rather than 14mm dia. This means that I'll have to replace my 10mm dia large drill with a 12mm dia one. Looking at the Tooling + Materials files suppl...

Re: Internal machining. Error messages.
I managed to get rid of the drilling errors by fitting a 6mm centre drill in place of the 11.1mm diameter one fitted and editing the tooling file accordingly. I believe Miracs came with 5mm centre drills? I had use a 6mm one as the only spare DB25 holders I have for use with my ATC have 6mm bores. T...

Re: Internal machining. Error messages.
Thanks for the explanation.
The problem is down to my defining a centre drill as having a major diameter of 7/16", 0.4375" or 11.113mm.
This looks perfectly legitimate to me. QT2DD seems to be working on the major diameter rather than the minor diameter, hence the error.

Internal machining. Error messages.
I've been experimenting with internal machining on a Mirac and have produced the attached .LCM file. When I try to generate Gcode I get the errors below which I do not understand. (Drilling) Cannot Process: Drill:8 diam:6.00 is less than current internal diam:11.11 Cannot Process: Drill:4 diam:10.00...

Re: QuickTURN2D v1.38 released 8th November 2024
Problem solved. Installation was being blocked by Norton Anti-Virus although it didn't actually tell me that. I had to exclude a number of files in Norton AV to stop them being blocked. Windows Control Panel/Settings reports the software level as being 1.37.0057, but on opening the app it shows it a...

Re: QuickTURN2D v1.38 released 8th November 2024
I note that this release is dated tomorrow!
I removed my existing version v1.35 and attempted to install version v1.38 on a Windows 11 pro machine.
However I get an error message as per the attached screen shot.
Reloading v1.35 works OK. I have a licence

Re: VR Milling v5.71 released 18th October 2021
I went to the download page and downloaded the latest version of VR Milling 5. I note that it shows an upload date of 29 July 2022. Next I uninstalled the version I'm currently running. This shows as Version 5.70.0.872 when the app is opened, but Windows Settings (Control Panel) shows it as Version ...

Re: VR Milling v5.71 released 18th October 2021
I have downloaded this software and loaded it onto a PC.
It shows a build level of V5.70.0.872. Is that correct? Shouldn't it show as V5.71.x.xxx?
Thanks, Max.

Re: Mirac Tool Turret Drill Holder
You'll be able to get most of the details you need from the pictures and by measuring the positions of the dowel holes and M6 tapped holes in your turret. I've attached a sketch showing other dimensions. Note that the tool holders aren't as long as the sides of the turret's octagon and the toolholde...

Re: Mirac Tool Turret Drill Holder
Odd that they should all be missing. Give me a few days and I'll produce some kind of drawing for you. Most of the details can probably be worked out from the holes in the turret though. They're used in conjunction with D25 round tool holders.

Re: VR Milling V5 X axis in wrong direction
Try:- Set up. Set up machine parameters. (Password is "denny"). Feed. Look at the parameter Motor Direction X. Change 0 to 1, or 1 to 0 depending on what you see. Close. You may have to close and open VR Milling for the change to take effect. Suggest machining fresh air to check whether this worked!...

Re: GCode for curve incorrect.
This is a file importation problem. If the .LCM drawing is produced from scratch the GCode is correct although IMHO there is rather a lot of material left to be removed by the LH turning tool when making the final cut on the curve remote from the chuck. If I import the .DWG file and use that to gene...

Re: GCode for curve incorrect.
I've been doing a bit more work on this and it seems that curves machined in what I'll call the South East quadrant of a circle aren't machined correctly, the GCode produced by QT2DD design being incorrect. There is no .MML file for a Denford Mirac supplied with QT2DD, so I've been using the file Tu...

GCode for curve incorrect.
The attached .DWG file is imported into QT2DD and used to produce a .LCM drawing. The Cam Wizard is then used to create a .FNL file containing the GCode for producing the part. If a simulation is then run in QT2DD the RH turning tool cuts the curve nearest the chuck correctly. Next I would expect th...

Thanks Steve.
I don't suppose you have any version 2.2 EPROM's available?
Or perhaps a forum member has read the EPROM's contents using a programmer?
