Main spindle not rotating
I just got back from a trip overseas and powered up my Easiturn only to find that the main spindle is not rotating (though everything else is fine - X and Z motion, coolant pump, lights, etc). I tried jumping pins 55 and 56 on the Combivert with a bit of wire, which should cause to spindle to run at...

Easiturn3 and Sprutcam
All, the attached file is a post-processor for SprutCam to generate g-code for an Easiturn3 that runs under Mach. In this latest version (2.1) I've fixed a couple of issues that caused incorrect circle generation (with G3 etc) under some conditions. The problem does not show up often but when it doe...

Easiturn spindle pulley and belt
Does anybody know who the manufacturer was for the spindle pulley on the Easiturn lathe? My lathe is currently topping out at around 1850 RPM and I'd like to be able to get to 3500 RPM or so for smaller diameter things. The parts list mentions spindle pulleys for various speeds betwenn 2000 and 4000...

Re: PCB schematic needed
I've uploaded one new doc - the Pratt-Burnerd chuck installation, operations and maintenance manual. I've added it to your thread (in the previous post) to keep the two together.

Re: Pratt Bernard 3 jaw Chuck Starturn pdf
Here's the only other document on the Pratt-Burnerd chuck that I've been able to locate - I got this from P-B and it's the only document that they have. This is the installation, operation, and maintenance manual for their Mk3 self-contained power chuck, which was fitted to later Denford lathes. Ear...

Re: PCB schematic needed
thanks for looking....
Somebody at Pratt is kindly looking to see if they have any info. If I get any, I'll post it here for anybody that wants it.

Re: PCB schematic needed
It's not in that PNC3 document, but I have solved the mystery of what the board does, which explains why at least. By the simple expedient of disconnecting the PCB power, I found that the board is the controller for the Pratt-Burnerd air chuck that the lathe is fitted with. If you have any data on t...

Re: PCB schematic needed
The machine was fitted with PNC3, but this board is in with the power systems at the back of the lathe. There are some TTL logic chips on the board though, so it may well be something to do with the PNC3 system.
Beyond that, there is little in the way of useful markings.

PCB schematic needed
Is it possible for one of you nice folks at Denford to upload the wiring schematic (and/or any other info that might still exist) for one of the PCB's on the Easiturn lathe, please? There is no info for this particular board in the set of schematics already uploaded, the manual, or the parts list, a...

Re: Easiturn3 conversion to Mach - some observations
I've just updated the wiring schematic diagramme above to make two important changes: 1) I've changed the symbol for the e-stop to that for a PTB switch, which is what you should have (fails safe in the event of a wire breaking). 2) I've changed the routing of the +12v power line for the Spindle3 ca...

Re: Easiturn3 conversion to Mach - some observations
Good news - I now have the lathe working completely under Mach 3. :D In the hope that it will perhaps make life easier for somebody else, I will attach to this post an electrical schematic, the XML file for Mach (either rename it to 'mach3turn.xml' or use a 'profile' shortcut), as well as a diagram ...

Re: Easiturn3 conversion to Mach - an update
A quick update on progress so far. As of tonight, I have the spindle working under Mach control. I have a Spindle2 card (also from diycnc.co.uk) driving the original Combivert inverter through its resistive controller. To do this, connect the Combivert COM connection (yellow, numbered '55' on the sc...

Re: Easiturn3 conversion to Mach - some observations
Hi Darryll, I cant disagree with you - there is more than one way of doing each of these tasks, and thus it comes down to a matter of personal choice. Undoubtedly there are ways to make the resistive controller on the combivert work - the Soundlogic card is one that I mentioned, and machines such as...

Easiturn3 conversion to Mach - some observations
A couple of people have asked me about converting my Easiturn3 to Mach - which I am in the middle of doing - so I am appending some observations and comments here in the hope that they might be of use to anybody going down the same route. Re: Controlling the spindle via the Combivert inverter
I connected up a 10k pot as suggested, and.... it fried. The inverter gave an error code and shut down; seems ok though.

Controlling the spindle via the Combivert inverter
It's probably just me being exceptionally dense, but I cannot figure out how to 'drive' the Combivert on my Easiturn lathe to control the spindle. I've read the manual that has been uploaded to this site, but still cant figure it out. To complicate matters, the wiring schematic in the PNC3 manual is...

Re: Easiturn 3 controller questions
Hmm, tetchy. Be useful if you understood what the issue is before sounding off unnecessarily. At this moment, all the covers etc are off the machine and the electronics module is dismantled and laid out on a table. And I still have to ask questions, because: - the docs that admin has indeed so kindl...
