Re: NovaTurn Turret Parts etc.
There is one for the Orac on Ebay, from what I have seen the Novaturn went from a single to dual pawl on the locking mech. My Starturn 5 looks to be the same as the orac unit. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Denford-Orac-Auto-Toolpost/323220743229?hash=item4b4175243d:g:dbcAAOSw42ta3Lbq Thanks, but I am ...

Re: NovaTurn Servo retrofit AMD Gizmosphere iBOB2 PCIe x1
I started my conversion of a EMCO Tool Turret a few weeks ago. STATUS: EMCO Compact 55 Tool Changer modified with a AMT203 ABS Encoder with SPI interface. ARM LPC1768. The encoder interface is now working. Denford NovaTurn AC Servo Lathe used to make new encoder adapter. The set-up uses the existing...

NovaTurn Turret Parts etc.
TO: Denford
Are there any other drawings and photos available, of the NovaTurn Turret, that show the shafts and locking mechanism?
In addition, have any more spare parts become available?
Thanks,

Re: NovaTurn Servo retrofit AMD Gizmosphere iBOB2 PCIe x1
Hi all. I am still looking for a turret for the NovaTurn. I am in the process of adapting a EMCO turret. In addition I am looking at having the NovaTurn Turret manufactured from the drawings with changes. The changes will include a AC servo and absolute encoder. I have been very busy on other projec...

Re: NovaTurn Servo retrofit AMD Gizmosphere iBOB2 PCIe x1
Mitip the Yaskawa 100W servos I used were almost a perfect fit. I only needed to make new motor plates. If you want to use Mach 3 then you will need servo drives that use step-direction. I am using a complete closed loop system. My servo drives take +-10V analog with encoder feed back to Linuxcnc / ...

Re: NovaTurn Servo retrofit AMD Gizmosphere iBOB2 PCIe x1
Pete, toby1995, mitip. My current system is using Ac servos (+-10V). If you want to use steppers, let me know. In addition, what would you like to see in a "Kit"? I could provide a basic kit and or a list of parts. If you want to use steppers, I would need to change hal/ini files and use a mesa 7i76...

Re: NovaTurn Servo retrofit AMD Gizmosphere iBOB2 PCIe x1
Pete, toby1995. I can put together cost information. Just let me know if you want to go stepper or servo system. A lot of the cost depends on what you use. For example new servos and drivers can be had on ebay, but it can take some time searching. I am debating on providing a system that would inclu...

Denford NovaTurn refit with AC servos.
1/4 20 thread test with sample parts.
Three (3) phase power is not needed. I am using dual power from 220v and 115v standard.

Re: NovaTurn Servo retrofit AMD Gizmosphere iBOB2 PCIe x1
hi there nice work! I'm not enjoying the inaccuracy of my triac and the noise from steppers is annoying aswell. its not terribly inaccurate but I'm not too pleased with it. I'm trying to make this triac a serious machine for production work with the tightest tolerances being +/-0.01mm and i just do...

Re: NovaTurn Servo retrofit AMD Gizmosphere iBOB2 PCIe x1
The Denford NovaTurn uses Inductive Sensors, BES 517-352-NO-L. I currently have them functioning in PathPilot. X and Z reference works correctly and also sets the soft limits.
Will post video soon and use PathPilot to make initial test parts.

Re: NovaTurn Servo retrofit AMD Gizmosphere iBOB2 PCIe x1
Progress updates;
Its been a while, but this question is to Denford. Have any ATC tool changers become available? Like the body and tool holder?
Are there any parts (ATC turret etc) from the new Turn 270 etc available?
Thanks,

Re: NovaTurn Servo retrofit AMD Gizmosphere iBOB2 PCIe x1
I have had to repair the encoder, it was faulty / defective. I have posted all the information that I could locate that might identify the encoder. It appears to be a 755A with a 10mm shaft with flat. In the Novaturn, only A and index are used. I modified my encoder to provide all signals, A A', B B...
