Re: Backed up their parameters with Tere Term
Got it!!! Hi all, Thank you for all of your help. Everything is good, and it has a 120M memory now. The LSK thing was caused by the change I made to the memory parameter. I put it back the way it was before, plus one digit change, and everything works great and has plenty of room for programs. I hop...

Re: Backed up their parameters with Tere Term
Hi again, Thank you for all the input, the transplant seemed to go OK. To our surprise, we did not have to load the parameters back in, but that may have something to do with the previous 10M memory. We compared the parameters anyway to the photos we took, and they are the same, except of course for...

Backed up their parameters with Tere Term
Hi all, My Denford CNC lathe with OT-B controls has been doing well, with the exception of only having the factory default 10M memory. I am going to upgrade the memory to 120M, but do not know how to offload the parameters to my computer so that I do not lose them. I use Tera Term to download progra...

Proper Memory Chip for Fanuc OT-B control
Hi All, I looked on the motherboard, and found four empty sockets labeled 43256C (and there was a column labeled for two of the sockets (2H) and (3H) for the other two. I then went to ebay and typed in 43256C. Five different chips popped up, so I wanted to ask which is the correct chip? Vintage SRAM...

Memory? Or lack thereof. Ginseng didn't help.
Hi all, Just successfully ran my first program, but I had to "butcher" it up to fit in the 4095 byte memory. My next question is can I add memory, and if so, where could I get it? Also, I am asking if I do get chips, where do they go on the board? I am familiar with adding memory to my pc, but this ...

Re: Roaring Spindle
Hi, Thank you so much (again) for the help. I used the diagram to help take it apart, and now have new bearings on order. They should be here today or tomorrow. The outside bearing of the double bearing, closest to the chuck, was definitely bad. Reckon it was coolant that messed it up? I have anothe...

Roaring Spindle
Hi all, Well, the old beast is up and running now, thanks to everyone's help, including Curtis from CNC Doctors. Turns out we had a bad sensor in the drive motor plus a broken wire going to the sensor (which probably messed up the sensor). I have another issue to fix (hopefully my last one for a whi...

Re: Spindle rpm fluctuating and causing 1008 Spindle Drive Fault
Hi, My alarms sheet, item 2 under "Speed is deviated from the command value" suggests the Transistor module is defective. The Check Procedure says Transistor collector-emitter is open, and the Remedy is Replace Transistor module. Is there a simple way to test this transistor module? Or is it one of ...

Re: Spindle rpm fluctuating and causing 1008 Spindle Drive Fault
I looked at the AC Spindle Drive Faults sheet Would you be able to post this up on here ? Anyone else with the same drive may find the info useful. Hi, I'm glad to make any kind of contribution. Here is the link: https://www.repair-fanuc.com/AC%20Spindle%20Alarm.htm I checked the spindle drive, and...

Re: Spindle rpm fluctuating and causing 1008 Spindle Drive Fault
Hi, I looked at the AC Spindle Drive Faults sheet, and then the machine. Only #2 is lit up when the error occurs. The "Content of Alarms" description states "Speed deviates from commanded speeds" for that error, and the speed does go up and down noticeably in something like a jerky motion. Thank you...

Re: Spindle rpm fluctuating and causing 1008 Spindle Drive Fault
Hi, I checked all the fuses, and they are ok. After analyzing the AC spindle drive faults, I have one bulb lit in the number two spot. The text for this says "Speed deviates from commanded speed". I read the list of alarms page, and the causes include Overload, transistor module is damaged, loose co...

Re: Spindle rpm fluctuating and causing 1008 Spindle Drive Fault
Hi, My input voltage checks at 430V 3-phase, and the out voltage from the transformer is 215V 3-phase, which I didn't worry about because it is within 10 percent. It seems that just the voltage going out to the spindle drive is what is varying. I was wondering if the Hertz rate supposed to be what c...

Spindle rpm fluctuating and causing 1008 Spindle Drive Fault
Hi, It's getting better as I learn this machine. It seemed to be running fine when I tried out a program that was already loaded, but now the spindle rpm is fluctuating, and then causing random 1008 Spindle Drive Fault errors. The spindle will slow down and speed up noticeably, and I noticed the vol...

Homeless parameter?
Hi y'all, Again, thank all of you for your help. I have most everything working now, but am not out of the woods yet. I loaded the parameters you gave me last month, and it definitely helped. I do have a question (again). When you home the machine, isn't it supposed to go to zero? The reason I ask i...

Re: 24volt replacement for Cyclone
Hi, Thank you again for the response. I kept looking and checking, and it looks like the transformer seems to be working OK. However, when I check power from the rectifier, I am getting 3.6 VDC when the wires are connected to the Cyclone, but then get 24 VDC when I disconnect the wires to the Cyclon...

Hi,
I believe I have the base for a Renishaw tool setter, and wanted to ask what setting arm is required to go with this.

Re: Question about wiring my Cyclone with Fanuc OT-B controls
Hi Martin, Thank you so much for the zip files. I opened them and looked through the manuals and schematics, and now have a LOT of bedtime reading material for the next few months. Been on the road the past few days racing, so I will have more time this week to go over them, and plan to begin wiring...
