Re: Motor and VFD
Hi, Ignore what I said about drilling holes etc !, I didn't notice that you said the shaft was free in the castings. I think you may have to remove the castings from their attachment under the lathe bed. The shaft may be shouldered, with circlips to locate the bearings onto the shaft or pulley. Les.T.

Re: Motor and VFD
Hi, I could suggest a few things if you like...... 1) Take the link belt off, both upper and lower runs. Evaluate whether there is actually a problem with the countershaft bearings first, I assume you have the little tool to twist the pins ?, if not you can do it with pliers. 2) Assuming there is a ...

Re: Motor and VFD
Hi, HNY, I have a copy of assembly sketch ML100/600, this shows the countershaft assembly. You can probably find it in the drawings which are in the stickies section. The bearings are listed as FAG 6205ZZ two off, deep groove. They are held in with circlips at each end. Caution: this might not be th...

Re: Viceroy now fitted with adjustable feet
Hi All, Merry Xmas, Happy holiday. I was interested by this as I have a bad back and am quite tall as well. I don't take anything away from the OP but I thought the forum might be interested in a different approach. I pondered on how to raise my Lathe to a more comfortable height for a while, I had ...

This probably isn't much use to you, but I found an assembly drawing which shows a bit of the taper turning attachment.

Re: Mill/lathe combo? Didn't know they made one.
Ending the auction just means that it has probably been sold privately, that's all.
Ebay want you to let an Auction run, but they can't force you to, they will charge a fee though,
and if you keep doing it regularly they will cancel your account.

Re: My new viceroy lathe
motor mounting2.pdf Hi Steve, Drawing scanned as requested. I was making some Nylon pegs for a Coal Bunker door recently and I had a lot of trouble getting a good finish. In the end I tried a HSS parting tool ground to an extreme rake, like a miniature plane. It produced a great finish. I expect yo...

Re: My new viceroy lathe
Hi, You can always use a die or a tap to make a thread. You can cut an imperial thread on a metric lathe, within limits. There is a Excel spreadsheet which gives help, this subject has been discussed before, Here's a link to a previous discussion. https://www.denfordata.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1061 L...

Strangely I saw this post on Ebay.

Re: My new viceroy lathe
Hi, I found a couple of A3 drawings which show the mounting plate arrangement. I hope they help you, one is from the wood lathe arrangements, but the part numbers appear to be common i.e. "SP***", possibly standard part ? I only have an A4 scanner so I have scanned the relevant bits. By the way, it l...

Re: New guy new Lathe to me anyway
Hi,
As far as I know,
You can run a smaller motor from a larger VFD, (and you could possibly overload the motor).
i.e a 1 HP motor fed from a 2 HP VFD is still a 1 HP motor.
You can run a larger motor from a smaller VFD, (within limits), but you may run into the current limit of the VFD.

Re: 280vs electrical problem; won't start.
I can't help with a wiring diagram for the Lathe Power controls. But, in general terms, there must be an auxilliary circuit which operates the contactors when you push the forward or reverse button in. This might be a low voltage circuit fed from a transformer or it might be a single phase supply. (...

Re: New guy new Lathe to me anyway
Hi Steve, Richard is quite right. There's an explanation here: https://www.drivesdirect.co.uk/Downloads/InvertertoMotorWiring.pdf If you have a look inside the motor terminal box and find three seperate windings terminated as per the diagrams, you are made. If not you will need either a special inve...

Hi,
I think that's the total price, (if I got my maths right, etc, etc),
I don't see anything else much with it,
Might be a treasure trove in the cupboard!

Re: New guy new Lathe to me anyway
Hi Steve, Have a look at Lathes.co.uk for Info on your lathe. Look for Denford. The nose is threaded 1.5" x 8 t.p.i . To power your lathe a small invertor is fine, thats what I have. "Drives direct " do them. They cost about 100.00 pounds, but look around you might get one cheap. Or you can get a 24...
